Art for Good Trouble: Free Protest Posters
This post stretches beyond the purpose of this website. While my work usually lives outside the realm of politics, some moments demand that we use every tool we have—including our creative voice. These days, I can no longer limit my protestations to calling my reps and posting on Bluesky. I need to use any creative talent that I have to fight against what is happening to the United States. I’m terrified by the cruelty and vengefulness of this administration and feel like I need to do more to pressure against it. As an American, I have the luxury of free speech and the right to protest, and the responsibility to do so when I see corruption from my Government. I can’t stand by and watch as this administration twists the cranks to fascism.
As of the writing of this blog, have created eight protest signs (update! Make that nine) that I’m pretty proud of, but living in Vermont gives them a very small audience. I want to make them available to everyone, so I have created a public Google folder that anyone with the URL can access. There are seven hi-res jpg files that can be downloaded and printed at any size up to 36” in width without pixelating.
The images are free to use for personal or commercial projects under Creative Commons Attribution license (CC BY). Please credit the artist: Marcia Blanco If you’d like to support my work, visit https://marciablanco.art/.
To paraphrase the words of John Lewis, go out and get in good trouble.
Examples of posters currently available. I’ll probably add more so save the URL to the Google folder and keep checking back.
