“Enough”

Painted STone in the woods

This week has been extraordinarily busy and I haven’t had much time to work in the studio. The work that I have produced needs to be torn up and started again. I’m kicking myself for the waste of time and paint. Next week, I should have something a little more solid to show you all and perhaps a tale of how the interview that Tonya and I have scheduled with WCAX went. The book release for Rescued is less than two weeks away and we want to get the word out.

Lacking anything visual of my own to share right now, I’m posting a photo of this stone that I stumbled upon while chasing Tsuki in the woods. (She was chasing a plethora of horny squirrels, going out of her mind with the numbers. The stone didn’t interest her at all. German Shepherds aren’t really into messaging.) It was an odd discovery, this lovely painted, egg-shaped stone lodged in an old log. I know that “Enough” is an important political message these days: enough killing in Gaza; enough legislation attacking women, LGBTQ communities, immigrants; enough Congressional nonesense. Maybe that’s why that little stone was hiding in the woods. It had had enough.

I felt pretty good about finding it, like it was a gift to encourage me, a karmic message to stop self-flagellating and get back to the studio. So I left it there as a gift for the next person chasing their dog who chases horny squirrels. It’s a good message, no matter the context, and should be shared.
